Anxiety and burn out can have deeper roots
Anxiety can be a response to experiences that have left a deeper mark. Counselling can help you make sense of what you're experiencing, understand how to move forward with clarity, and gain new confidence.

What my counselling practice looks like
I work from a Humanistic, Person-Centred approach, which means I see you as a whole person, rather than simply focusing on a set of symptoms.
My approach works from two sides, exploring what may sit beneath what you’re experiencing, while also helping you make sense of what has happened, how you’ve learned to cope, and how this may be showing up in your thoughts, feelings, relationships and everyday life.
-
Understanding the roots — exploring experiences, relationships and trauma that may have shaped the way you see yourself, others and the world around you.
-
Making sense of how you respond — understanding the ways you have learned to cope, how these patterns may have developed, and whether they are still serving you now.
-
Working with anxiety — looking beyond the anxiety itself to understand what may be underneath it, while also developing practical ways to manage what you’re experiencing in the present.
-
Understanding relationships — exploring how past experiences can influence the way we connect, communicate and respond to others, and how these patterns can affect our relationships today
.
Neurodiversity-aware — I recognise that we all process thoughts, emotions and experiences differently. This is an area I have a particular understanding and connection with, and I adapt our work together to suit how you naturally communicate, process and make sense of things.
Trauma informed - I understand how trauma can effect the nervous system and make sensory input more intense or overwhelming. I work with this in the room , putting appropriate safety mechanisms in place to help you stay safe emotionally, within a manageable window frame while we work through deeper experiences
Mind–Body Connection- I understand the psychosomatic impact of emotional and mental health difficulties, and how what we experience emotionally can affect us physically. Stress, trauma and prolonged emotional distress can influence the nervous system and show up through physical sensations, tension and other bodily responses.
You don’t need to have everything figured out before you come to therapy. We can make sense of it together, at your pace.
Alongside this deeper work, I also bring in CBT, mindfulness and psychoeducation where they can be helpful. These are adapted to the individual in front of me, giving you practical tools and a better understanding of what you’re experiencing, without losing sight of the bigger picture.
I’m also able to draw upon different therapeutic approaches and perspectives, including Internal Family Systems (IFS), Transactional Analysis and somatic awareness, depending on what feels relevant and helpful for you. This allows our work to remain flexible and individual, rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach.
Above all, I value the therapeutic relationship. Creating a trusting, safe and supportive environment is central to my work. You don’t get a counsellor who sits behind a professional mask, you get me as a real person. I bring warmth, honesty, openness and genuine human connection to our sessions, so you can feel comfortable being yourself and exploring what’s really going on for you.
All you need to do is begin.

A Client Reflection
The thought of therapy terrified me. I struggled to express and manage emotions, so much so, that it affected my physical health. Zara has a way of making you feel safe, you can be yourself, open up and process things at your pace. She is patient, knowledgeable, kind and explains emotional processes and how I was getting affected. The difference she has made to my life has been astounding. I can be real, show vulnerability without stress, set boundaries, I finally have self worth at 40 years of age. I feel lighter, stronger and in tune with myself. Thank you so much Zara. You are a diamond.
